WPA Day begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday, 8 October 2016 and you will love the artists, craftsmen and musicians lined up for the event.  You will also love the cornbread and pinto beans served up courtesy of the Friends of Cedars of Lebanon State Park.

There will also be a Cornbread Contest. Bring your favorite cornbread, and enter it in either the traditional recipe category or the original recipe category. Register online here: Cornbread Contest Registration

Learn how to make cornbread in a Dutch oven and have a bowl of beans to go with your bread. Then grab a partner and enter the cross-cut log sawing contest. If log sawing is not your thing, how about a game of  horseshoes? Or check out the basket maker, the wool weaver, the soap maker, a hand quilter or the wheel potter, each demonstrating their craft. Also see a lumberjack harrow, and watch Larry the lumber man make cedar shakes and split cedar fence rails the way they used to. He’s handy with an axe, a froe and a mallet!

There will be lots of old tools on display, and be sure to see all the old photographs from the area circa 1920s and 1930s.  Look for all these things in and around the old Cedar Lodge.

There will be some masterful musicians on hand all day including the Old Brakeman Roy Harper and Michael DeFosche among others.

It’s an old-time, family-friendly event and it’s all free, so come join us for a step back in time.
