WPA Day begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday, 4 October 2014, and you’ll love the artists, craftsmen and musicians lined up for the event. Plus, a time capsule will be buried at 1:00 PM just outside the Cedar Lodge.
There will be a Cornbread Contest. Bring your favorite cornbread, and enter it in either the traditional recipe category or the original recipe category.
Download the contest rules here: Cornbread Contest Rules
Learn how to make cornbread in a Dutch oven and have a bowl of beans to go with your bread. Then grab a partner and enter the cross-cut log sawing contest. If log sawing is not your thing, how about a game of marbles? Or check out the basket maker, weaver, or chair maker, each demonstrating their craft. Also see a lumberjack harrow, and watch Larry & Tim make wood shingles and split cedar fence rails too.
There will be lots of old tools on display, and be sure to see all the old photographs from the area circa 1920s and 1930s. You don’t want to miss the old fiddle display either. Look for all these things in and around the old Cedar Lodge.
There will be some masterful musicians on hand all day including:
Lizzie Jane and The Lazy Johns
Mike DeFoshe
Greg Rich
Roy Harper
.
It’s an old-time, family-friendly event and it’s all free, so come join us for a step back in time. Download a flyer for WPA Day here: WPA Day 2014 Flyer
